«Trying to be successful. Steve Jobs - a genius of our time»

Цели урока:

1. Практическая: к концу урока учащиеся должны уметь применять знакомую и незнакомую лексику в различных видах    речевой деятельности в соответствии с коммуникативной задачей, чтение (с полным и точным пониманием, с выбором нужной информации из текста) говорение (краткое монологическое высказывание по теме урока).

2. Образовательная: расширить и углубить знания учащихся об успешных людях, обеспечить входе урока усвоение и активизацию лексического материала.

3. Развивающая: содействовать развитию умения извлекать нужную информацию, систематизировать, обобщать и делать выводы, оценивать полученную информацию; способствовать развитию коммуникативной компетенции.

4. Воспитательная: способствовать развитию умения критически мыслить, выделять положительные качества успешных людей, расширять общий кругозор учащихся.

                    

Задачи урока :

1. Учить учащихся анализировать т обобщать информацию.

2. Развивать умения и навыки устной речи.

3. Развивать умения и навыки в чтении с извлечением основной информации.

4. Формировать у учащихся умения ставить цели и задачи в жизни(умения целеполагания).

5. Воспитывать культуру общения и потребность в практическом использовании языка.

6. Прививать культуру работы с ИКТ и необходимость использования мультимедийных средств.

Оборудование : компьютер , мультипроектор.

Дополнительные материалы : презентация power pointTrying to become a successful person”с фотографиями успешных и знаменитых людей; задания, разработанные к тексту “Steve Jobs”.

Тип урока: обобщение и систематизация знаний и умений.

 

План урока:

1. Организационный момент.

2. Мотивация учащихся, самоопределение деятельности учащихся, постановка целей и задач урока.

Teacher : So , let’s start our lesson! We are going to speak about successful people and how to become a successful person nowadays!(слайд 1)

According to Macmillan English Dictionary “success is the achievement of something that you planned to do or attempted to do”

What does success mean to people? Are people successful because they have happy lives and success in their own way?

Every person is unique and special. Everyone has equal chances to become successful in something. Success means different things to different people. But all famous or successful people had one thing in common. They listened to their inner voice and believed in themselves, they understand that there is so specific formula of fame ,fortune and success.

“How to become famous and successful?” – this is the question we are going to answer today.

3. Речевая зарядка, введение в языковую среду.

Teacher: Look at the photos of successful people. Do you know them? What is he/she famous for? (слайд 2)

Вниманию учащихся предлагаются слайды презентации с фотографиями успешных и знаменитых людей.

1.     Right, it’s Joanne Rowling –is the most poplar writer of the recent years thanks to her Harry Potter series. But ,life wasn’t always magical for J.K.Roling .She’s had some times but she never gave up on her writing.

2.     Agree with you , Evgeni Plushenko is a Russian figure skater. He is the only male figure skater in the modern history of the sport to have won four Olympic medals competing in four Olympic.

3.     Yes,Madonna is a pop singer, song-writer, and actress. In 2003 Madonna published her first children’s book:” The English Roses.”

4.     Dmitri Hvorostovsky was our leading opera singer. He grew up  and studied in Siberia and became popular with his audience for his sense for music and soft voice.

Look at this photo! Do you know this person? What were his great inventions?

You are right! Steve Jobs is an American entrepreneur and inventor. And today our lesson is devoted to the genius of computer technology – Steve Jobs.

4. Демонстрация мультимедийной презентации ”Steve Jobs”.

We are going to read a text about Steve Jobs. (на экране текст о Стиве Джобсе, слабым ученикам предлагается прочитать его вслух)

Read it and try to answer to these questions. (слайд) Презентация.

5. Проверка понимания прочитанного.Совершенствование коммуникативных навыков.

(учащимся раздаются листы с заданиями)

Decide if the sentences are True, False or Not Stated.

1. Steve Jobs was a graduate of Stanford University.

2. Steve Jobs left the university because he had little money.

3. The Macintosh computer was his first invention.

4. Steve Jobs founded only Apple company.

5. Steve kept looking for a new job ,after he left Apple.

6. Steve Jobs had a fatal disease.  

Now, match the sentences halves.

1. Steven Paul Jobs was born a. founded NeXT.

2. He graduated from school in 1972 b. changed his appearance; his head was shaved and he wore  traditional Indian clothes.                                                                                    

3. In 1974 , Jobs traveled to India and c. significantly.

5. In 1985 Jobs left Apple and e. are very popular now and are sold all over the world.

Your homework was reading and translating the text . It was a part of Steve jobs’ speech. What facts about his life have you learnt? What surprised you? Do you think Steve Jobs is a successful person? Why? Let’s do ex.5 ,6 p.11-112

So, let’s think! What features should a person have to succeed in life ?Write  down words that characterize a successful person.

Example: I believe that a successful person should be industrious.

7. Объяснение домашнего задания.

Your homework is Project Work. You should summarize your knowledge on topic “Trying to become a successful person” . Find out interesting information about a well-known and successful person you respect and make a presentation. He/she may be a world famous person or just your relative or neighbor. You should communicate and interact, learn presenting your projects.

Use books , newspapers ,Internet.

8. Подведение итогов урока ,рефлексия.

I want to thank you for your participation. Today we have tried to discuss a very important problem. I’m glad that each of you had an opportunity to tell us your opinion on the matter.
